Distinguished Speakers
Lorna Alice Moira DILLON
Assistant Professor, Academy of Visual Arts
HONG KONG BAPTIST UNIVERSITY
Lorna will speak about the multiple strands of Surrealism that have developed over the last century and their relevance to artists today. Thinking through a multiplicity of mediums and techniques, and thinking about surrealism as a multiple phenomenon, the talk will be of interest to artists who may be intuitively creating surrealist aesthetics. The talk will discuss the origins of the cannon in Europe, Latin American Surrealism, Afro-Surrealism and Asian Surrealism. The idea is to synthesize the sometimes intertwined, sometimes heterogeneous facets of a variety of surrealist movements.
