We warmly invites to the opening of The IX Winter Salon of Young Artists from the Academy on 20 February at 7:00 p.m. It will feature 35 artists and approximately 100 works. During the official opening, awards and distinctions will be presented in various categories.
The Winter Salon of Young Artists from the Academy, organized by the Wojciech Weiss Museum Foundation at Zofia Weiss Gallery in Kraków, ul. Podwale 6, is an annual curatorial presentation of the most interesting and vibrant developments in Young Art. Eligible participants are students and graduates of the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts up to 29 years of age, coming from various regions of the country and with diverse sensibilities. These Young Artists represent a generation creating works of great expressive power, attempting to find answers to the difficult challenges of the contemporary world.
The Winter Salon of Young Artists from the Academy is the moment of discovering young, intriguing talents at the very beginning of their artistic journey, when the art market has not yet recognized the strengths of their work. It is worth noting that many who debuted at our Salon are now highly ranked in the Compass of Young Art and other rankings.
Young Art, also known as emerging art, is the most authentic and daring, as artists at this age are only just developing their style, are unafraid to experiment, and do not calculate for the market. Their works reveal genuine emotions, anger, fear, joy, irony, and records of personal stories. It is art that does not pretend, that does not live on appearances, and that is precisely why it speaks so powerfully to audiences seeking something moving and fresh.
Kraków is the epicenter of Young Art, and the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków is one of the most distinguished art schools in Central Europe. Its graduates regularly win the most important awards, are noticed at art fairs, and quickly enter both Polish and international collections.
The Winter Salon of Young Artists from the Academy is the earliest and most reliable moment to meet them.
The Salon is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland the Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, The Art World Advisory Group, Vedica Art Gallery and Studios, the portal Niezła Sztuka, Artsaas, and has two sponsors: Q Hotel and Nowina Konopka.
The future of Polish art is being born right here and now!
