VEDICA ART STUDIOS AND GALLERY Mumbai, India
Exhibition Open Call | Continuities Without Containment
Vedica Art Studios and Gallery
Vedica Art Studios and Gallery is a contemporary art space grounded in spatio-temporal alliances and interconnected systems, foregrounding the transitivity of artistic meaning as it moves across cultural, historical, and ideological contexts. Through exhibitions, curatorial practices, and collaborative engagements, Vedica constructs a composite framework in which individual artistic positions remain distinct yet are subsumed within a globally situated contemporary discourse representing global contemporary art.
Exhibition Theme
Grounded in Immanuel Kant’s The Critique of Judgement (1790), this exhibition gives a critical re-examination of aesthetic autonomy, extending the paradoxical condition of “purposiveness without purpose” into the materially and elementally displaced present. By displacing inherited frames, structures, and institutional boundaries, the works presented dismantle the conventions that traditionally delimit artistic meaning, including the presumed authority of the gallery space itself. Unframed, continuous, and dematerialised installations of artworks articulate a condition of transcendental experience that resists instrumental reason, positioning meaning as contingent, fluid, and temporally vulnerable, as if, the signifieds exists without the concept of signification. The exhibition foregrounds the tension between inside and outside, the opposite binaries, preservation and dissolution, asking whether boundaries are necessary to sustain aesthetic significance or whether they merely stabilise it for hierarchy and control. As viewers navigate these dismantled conditions while carrying meaning across time towards a future that remains inevitably uncertain, the exhibition ultimately questions whether such paradoxical states can remain relevant and safeguarded without reintroducing the very structures they seek to transcend.
